Polo-shirts Update
After long discussions with various companies and the University I have secured funding to get the polo-shirts at no charge. Our sponsors for the polo-shirts are The Publicity Centre (the printing company).
Launch Evening on 8th November
We have arranged a Launch Evening (sponsored by Medical Sickness) to take place on 8th November in the lobby area outside the main lecture theatres in the Medical School.
Final Training Session for second half of Group 1
The final training session for the remaining untrained members of group 1 will take place in late October. Following this a trial run for a couple of weeks will take place to iron out any problems before we have the opening evening on 8th Novemeber.
Application to the British Heart Foundation
Our application is still going through the system and hopefully we shall hear soon whether we can get a defibrillator (and equipment) funded entirely by the BHF. In the mean time the Pre-hospital Emergency Research Unit will lend a defibrillator (and equipment) until funding comes through.
Donation of a Defibrillator
Dr Mike Stephens, Consultant Cardiologist at the UHW has kindly donated a MRL LifeQuest defibrillator for the scheme. He has also taken a large role in our application to the Wales Heart Research Institute for funding. The defibrillator is now being checked by the ambulance service to see if it is fit for service. Dr Stephens will be attending our opening evening in November.
Wales Heart Research Fund Sponsors Cardiff Medics First Responders
We have received sponsorship of £1000 from the Wales Heart Research Institute. Mr. Iain Breckenridge, Chairman of the Wales Heart Research Fund and Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon, who organised the sponsorship wishes us well in our scheme and highlighted that ‘it would provide an invaluable experience for (our) future careers as doctors’.
